Peak Chamber Orchestra

Glyn Davies - Former Conductor

About us

The Peak Chamber Orchestra was founded over fifty years ago by the late Tom Bandy, who recognised a need for an orchestra where amateur musicians could gather to play a large variety of classical music, without the pressure of rehearsing for regular public concerts.  Some public performance is of course desirable, in order that the players have an aim for improvement, and in recent years open evening concerts have been held in the Church Centre at Eyam, the proceeds going to charities.

The Orchestra was led for many years by conductor Glyn Davies until his death in August 2016. After a period of consolidation, we appointed a new conductor, Adam Green, who led us until Summer 2018. We then appointed Tim Maunder as our conductor to take us forward into the future but during the pandemic Tim sadly died. We are very grateful that Keith Barstow, previously the 1st Clarinettist, volunteered to conduct the orchestra, and continued to do so until his retirement at the end of the last term after our last concert and subsequent social evening at Eyam.

We have now appointed a new conductor Chorkiu Chan who will commence with us at the start of the new term 2nd September 2025
